Abstract.Malingering is defined in DSM-5 as the intentional reporting of symptoms for personal gain(eg.relaxation from work,decategorisation,money etc)

Aim.A clinical study was done in a tertiary care hospital to know malingering done by patients.

Materials &methods..The study was a retrospective study done in a tertiary care hospital in patients who are referred from divisional hospital for ophthalmic examination.All patients were underwent complete ophthalmic examination including visual acuity,visual field,colour vision etc).

Results.A total of 30 patients were examined .21 patients complains of loss of visual acuity,5 patients with defective colour vision and 4 patients with loss of visual field.

Conclusion.In todays world every ophthalmologist can face with malingering of ophthalmic disease.The physician should be firm and smart to select appropriate test to convince not only the patients but also for future legal actions.
