Study was done to determine prevalence of different ocular manifestations in homozygous sickle cell disease patients in South Gujarat. Sickle cell disease is more common in tribal population of India. In South Gujarat, several tribal communities like Chaudhari, Gamit, Vasava and Kukana are more prone to develop sickle cell disease. A cross sectional study of 125 patients of homozygous sickle cell disease aged between 2 to 18 year were examined at Tertiary care center and selected primary health centers of South Gujarat over a period from December 2015 to June 2017. All patients belonged to schedule tribe population of South Gujarat with almost equal number of distribution among males (52%) and females(48%). Ocular manifestations were observed in 43 (34.4%) patients . Blinding manifestations were observed in 5 patients(4%). So early documentation of ocular abnormalities in sickle cell disease patients is very important to decrease the blinding ocular sequale.
