Aim: Assess and compare efficacy and safety of iris fixation and scleral fixation of IOL
Method: Retrospective interventional study of 29 and 9 patients with iris fixation and scleral fixation. Preoperative & postoperative(day 1, 1and 6 months) UCVA, BCVA and IOP noted. Intra-operative and post-operative complications recorded
Result: Pre-operative UCVA (logMAR) was1.34+0.52 &1.75+0.10 and BCVA was 0.39+0.37 &0.20+0.10 in the iris-fixation and sclera fixation group respectively. At 6 months,UCVA was 0.35+0.13& 0.38+0.13 and BCVA was 0.10+0.12 and 0.20+0.10 in iris fixation and scleral fixation group respectively. Visual outcome was statistically significant in the iris-fixation group (p<0.001) but not in scleral-fixation group (p=0.753). Early postoperative complication was not statistically significant(p=0.9) whereas late postop complications was (p=0.02) Conclusion: Both iris-fixation and scleral-fixation are good techniques with the former being slightly more safer and effective
