A prospective interventional study of 30 patients, with mature white cataract were scheduled for elective phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation by two surgeons during the time period of October 2017 till March 2018 at department of cataract clinic in a private ophthalmic hospital in India.All patients with mature cataracts with no retinal pathology underwent anterior segment optical coherence tomography to assess the presence or absence of intra-lenticular subcapsular fluid pockets. The patients with presence of subcapsular fluid pockets(Group:1) underwent 30 gauge needle aspiration fluid aspiration followed by capsulorhexxis and phacoemulsification and those without any fluid(Group:2) underwent Utrata forceps assisted capsulorhexxis.In group 1 and 2, 13(86.7%) eyes underwent complete circular curvilinear capsulorhexxis(p-value-0.001), with a surgical success rate of 87%.
