OBJECTIVES: 1)Evaluate the higher order and total aberrations in the post-operative period after implantation of the different IOLs in the study. 2)To evaluate the UCVA & BCVA post-operatively. 3)Assess visual satisfaction post-op by the VF-14 questionnaire. METHODS: Patients screened for cataract surgery and selected for study based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Post operative UCVA and BCVA evaluated. A comparison between spherical and aspheric IOL’s effect on HOA post operatively done using VisionX. Sameple size of 67. RESULTS: Mean post-op HOA in spherical IOL group was 0.12 and in aspheric group was 0.085 difference being statistically significant (p<0.05). The mean spherical aberrations post-op in spherical group was 0.017 and aspheric group was 0.0086(p<0.05). Visual satisfaction however was comparable between two groups. CONCLUSIONS: Aspheric IOLs reduce post-op HOA and spherical aberrations more than spheric IOLs. Visual satisfaction is independent of this IOL design.
