Cataract is one of the most common complication of uveitis. The main difficulties is cataract surgery come, because of posterior synaechiae & small pupil. This mentioned technique simplify the cataract removal & outcome.
Technique :- After staining the capsule the attached membrane between post surface of iris & lens capsule is catch hold with an rhexis forcep & peeled out gently in a continuous manner all along 360 degree by repeated attempts in different quadrants. This membranolysis converts the small pupil into a reasonably well dilated pupil per operatively & cataract surgery can be done without help of rings & hoks. The response of rings or hoks in diseased iris in uveitic cataract is very traumatic, as iris remains friable. Application of rings &hooks also leads to more inflammation in post op period. Because of less manipulation the post op recations become less with this technique.
Conclusion :- So due to absence of uveitic membrane, outcome is better in these patients.
