A cone shaped deformation of anterior or posterior lens surface is defined as lenticonus. Posterior lenticonus is more common than anterior. They may be inherited as an autosomal recessive trait or be associated with other abnormalities, such as Alport’s syndrome (familial hemorrhagic nephritis) or Lowe’s oculocerebral syndrome (associated with posterior lenticonus). They can cause lenticular myopia with irregular astigmatism. It generally occurs sporadically, but familial cases have also been reported. If visually significant or if amblyopia is present, lens removal is indicated. In this case we present an 18 year old female with unilateral posterior lenticonus treated with optical correction.
