Diabetes Mallitus is increasing globally these days and the diabetic patients are having fluctuating vision owing to the involvement of cornea. Hence, a case controlled study involving 100 patients of Type II Diabetes Mallitus was undertaken in tertiary eye-care center to study the corneal endothelial morphology and corneal thickness and its relation to Diabetes Mallitus. In terms of the various endothelial parameters, hexagonality was found to be significantly lower in Diabetic study group (P < 0.01). There occurs an endothelial cell loss with increase in corneal thickness with an increase in duration of Diabetes. The changes in CCT and ECD were found to be statistically significant with P < 0.002 and P < 0.001 respectively. The mean CCT was higher and mean ECD lower in diabetics with retinopathy as compared to those without retinopathy (P < 0.01). Hence, it is concluded that good glycemic control is mandatory to prevent diabetic retinopathy and to maintain good corneal health.
