Purpose:To describe the results of blepharoptosis surgery in patients with CPEO. Methods: Retrospective Interventional case series of thirteen patients from May 2011 to December 2017 . Main outcome measures were change in palpebral fissure height and postoperative complications. Results: There were 5 males and 11 females. Age group ranged from 17yrs to 62 yrs. All had bilateral frontalis suspension surgery with silicon rod. The amount of ptosis was quatified pre and postoperatively by a single observer. Postoperatively, mean palpebral fissure height improved from 3.4mm to 7.5mm. Postoperative complications included exposure keratopathy in 7 eyes (21.9%),worsening of diplopia(3.8%) and viralendothelitis (3.8%).Conclusion:Blepharoptosis surgery in an alternative to crutch glasses to achieve eyelid elevation in patients with CPEO. Surgery is done when ptosis is severe causing obscuration of visual axis . Patients should be counselled regarding the potential complications.
