Introduction- Lime injury is most common & serious alkali chemical injury to eye. Alkalis are liphophilic & penetrate eye more rapidly than acids. Case report- A 6 yr/M child came with H/O FB sensation & pain in LE since 1-2 wks. H/O fall of lime particles while playing was present. Vn in LE was 6/6. On SLE of LE there was a well defined scleral FB at 10 O clock position around 2×3 mm white in colour, 3mm from the limbus surronded by vascularization around it & fundus WNL. RE Vn was 6/6 with A/S & fundus WNL. FB was removed with plain forceps in OT ↓ GA & thorough conjunctival wash was given , FB send for chemical analysis with pH studied which proved it to be lime particle. Post-op antibiotic-steroid drop given for 4 wks in tapering manner, along with lubricating eye drops & followed up till 24 wks. Conclusion- Alkali injuries of such a kind can cause scleral thinning, sterile scletritis if left untreated. Early surgical intervention in pediatric pts prevents the complications.
