Introduction: Amblyopia is decrease in visual acuity without any organic disorder. The purpose of study is to evaluate the efficacy of levodopa-carbidopa in management of amblyopia.
Method: Patients diagnosed with amblyopia were divided into 2 groups. One group received levodopa- carbidopa combination with part-time occlusion therapy and the other group received only occlusion therapy. The subjects were followed up monthly for a period of 3 months. During the monthly follow up of the subjects, refraction and BCVA were documented in the pre designed proforma. The records were analysed using SPSS-22.
Result: Of the 66 patients, 40(60%) were male and 26(40%) were females. There was improvement in visual acuity in both the groups but there was no statistically significant difference in the improvement between the two groups. (p=0.347)
Conclusion: Levodopa did not significantly increase the improvement in BCVA in amblyopic patients on part time occlusion.
