Early diagnosis and adequate follow-up of glaucoma are fundamental to optimal management of a disease to prevent significant visual morbidity.Visual field assessment stands as a major pillar both in the diagnosis and in follow-up of glaucoma patients.The Frequency-Doubling Effect is a phenomenon that occurs when a low spatial frequency (15 Hz) counterphase flicker appears as a shimmering grating pattern with double the original spatial frequency.The basis of FDP is thought to reside in a subset of M-CELLS called My- CELLS, which account for only 15% -25% of the M-CELLS, or 1.5% -2.5% of the total ganglion cell population.These cells respond to low spatial frequency and high temporal frequency feature of FDP stimulus.We conducted a study at our hospital which compared the field defects in FDP and SAP in advanced POAG. Result shows FDP has100% sensitivity and specificity for detecting advanced glaucomatous visual field loss
