We evaluated 19 eyes of 11 patients. They underwent basic evaluation including vision,IOP,Slit Lamp examination with fluorescein staining.Treatment methods included topical NaCl 5%,local steroids, preservative free lubricating drops, topical cyclosporine 0.05%,mechanical removal of filaments, bandage contact lens & topical 10%N-acetyl cysteine.
Results-We found that FK was common in middle aged group & had higher female preponderance.Aqueous deficient dry eye was observed to be the most common associated ocular disorder.58% patients resolved with combination of steroids & BCL within 44±12 days.26.3% patients with refractory FK were additionally prescribed 10%N-acetyl cysteine & resolved within 27±15days of adding the drug. One eye with adenoviral keratoconjunctivitis resolved without BCL.Two eyes of one patient failed still has multiple recurrences & requires periodic BCL.
FK is a relatively uncommon, chronic and debilitating condition, but can be effectively managed with systematic approach
