AIM- To determine the role of anti-tubercular therapy in prevention of recurrent uveitis.
METHODS- Prospective study of total of 33 patients was done at RIO in between July 2017-May 2018. The inclusion criteria was positive tuberculin test(>10 mm induration) and evidence of anterior uveitis. Group A(21 patients) received anti-tubercular therapy with topical steroid and Group B(12 patients) received only topical steroid. Follow up examinations were done at 3 month,6 month and 9 month after starting of treatment.
RESULTS- Recurrence of uveitis reduced significantly in Group A- 4(19%) as compared to Group B- 5(41.7%).
CONCLUSION- Patients treated with anti-tubercular therapy along with topical corticosteroids had decreased risk of developing recurrence of uveitis in comparison with topical corticosteroids alone.
