Introduction: Newly diagnosed Glaucoma cases categorized as Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG), Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma (PACG), Ocular Hypertension (OHT) & Normal Tension Glaucoma (NTG) present with different Visual Fields (VF) & optic disc (OD) changes.
Aim: To investigate relationship between OD changes & VF at presentation in different types of glaucoma.
Methodology: Cross-Sectional study of 100 eyes of 50 newly diagnosed Glaucoma cases where OD changes were correlated with VF.
Results: Mostly the newly diagnosed cases were POAG. Majority had high IOP with C:D mostly 0.4-0.6. Most cases had severe VF defect (Hodapp’s Staging) showing bilateral severely depressed fields.
Conclusions: In newly diagnosed glaucoma cases, OD changes had already occurred with IOP in normal range and with increasing C:D ratio the VF worsened. They require strict management and timely diagnosis. Poor compliance to glaucoma medications at early stages could lead to significant visual impairment.
