A 1 mth old baby presented with complaint of upper lid defect in the right eye while lower eyelid and rest anterior segment was normal . Left eye was WNL. The parents were advised patching of the eye at night with frequent lubrication during the day and a coloboma repair was deferred for a later stage in order to avoid anaesthesia related complications. The neonate presented after two mths with history of fingernail trauma and a corneal ulcer. Adequate treatment was started and the corneal ulcer healed with symblepharon formation at the margins of coloboma. Surgical correction under GA was planned. Symblepharon was released and a small lateral canthotomy was done and coloboma was closed with direct closure with 6-0 silk suture. Raw surface created on the cornea and the conjunctival surface was covered with fresh amniotic membrane the details of which will be discussed. Postop results were satisfactory.
