Aim: To study the correlation between change in CCT and change in IOP in patients undergoing myopic LASIK
Methods: Myopic patients seeking LASIK satisfying the inclusion and exclusion criteria underwent preoperative investigations: Visual acuity, MRSE calculation, topography, GAT and ultrasound pachymetry. Same investigations were performed postoperatively after one month.
Results: 121 eyes (62 patients) were analyzed. Mean decrease in IOP was 4.07 (p<0.001). Correlation between changes in CCT and IOP was statistically insignificant. Preoperative IOP had a strong correlation with change in IOP (r = 0.707; p < 0.001). A simplified formula for corrected IOP after LASIK was derived: IOPc = IOPm + 4.062 (IOPc – Corrected IOP; IOPm – measured IOP). Conclusion: The decrease in measured IOP by GAT should be kept in mind while evaluating postoperative LASIK patients and IOP change can’t be attributed to CCT change. Preoperative IOP predicts IOP change after LASIK.
