AIM-study of range of ocular trauma in outdoor working people as compared to indoor working people
METHOD-prospective study including 40 pts coming to our hospital between October –april 2017,history taking, slit lamp,fundoscopy done
RESULTS-BCVA range 6/6 to PL –ve,mode of injury include blunt ,penetrating trauma,chemical,thermal injury.Out of 28 outdoor working pt,20 had SCH, 20 had periorbital lesions ,7 had perforated corneal injury,12 had corneal epithelial defect,20 had hyphaema,6 had traumatic cataract.BCVA improved in90% cases.Permanent visual loss in 5% cases .Out of 12 indoor pts, 8 had SCH,7 had periorbital lesions,9 had corneal epithelial defect,5 had hypheama,2 had traumatic cataract.Proper management done accordingly.BCVA improved in 93% cases.permanent visual loss in 3% cases.
CONCLUSION-Occular injury may lead to life time visual loss.It is seen more in outdoor working people than indoor working people.It can be prevented by immediate emergency management.
