METHODOLOGY: Hospital based study of 100 cases of head injury over a period of 18 months duration. The demographic profile and history regarding injury collected. Detailed ocular examination was done. Radiological investigations were done wherever necessary. Ocular manifestations requiring treatment were attended.
RESULTS: 28 patients were female and 72 were male. Majority of the cases belonged to 21 to 30 years followed by 31 to 40 years. RTA was found to be the commonest cause followed by assault. SCH, ecchymosis, soft tissue injuries are most common ocular manifestations. Bony injury to the orbit were also found. Neuroophthalmic manifestations were less commonly found.
CONCLUSION: Immediate medical attention and appropriate management will aid in quick visual rehabilitation of the patient.
